Book Review #7 - Magician: Apprentice

Magician: Apprentice
Raymond E. Feist

When I first started reading this book I was reminded of The Giver.  I encountered multiple parallels between them.  Both books start off with a boy looking for answers.  Both have the boy be trained by a wizened old sage.  As I progressed deeper into the book I thought about Tolkien and Jordan and the similarities.  This book kept me riveted and reading at every opportunity.  You will find more then just magic and adventure in this book.  There is politics and military, humor and hardship.  I do want to see more of the story from the Tsurani point of view and their world, but I have a feeling Feist left that for books to come.  This book it seems is more a way to introduce the main characters and how they start to change due to the circumstances they have to face.

Book Review #6 - The Book Thief

The Book Thief
Markus Zusak

How do I describe this book? I am nowhere near as good at descriptions and word play as Zusak. The imagery is amazing. The personification of Death the best I've read. I mean this book is stunning. I could not put it down. You can feel and see what his characters feel and see. And thats just the characters. The story is very well written. It reminds me of Tom Sawyer meets Anne Frank with a dash of On a Pale Horse.
